Only Because You Loved MeA Poem by Victoria ScottThis is a poem about a man and his wife has Alzheimers and yet he still loves her. This is written from the wife's perspective.
If you had really loved me....
Alluded to my despondency. A day by day drill without recovery. With my head over the pier, As the water surged near. Only because you loved me. I can't complain about the days When what I said was a riddle and My heart was a maze, And yet you'd turn down the noise And the sounds. Only because you loved me. You took my hand on that moonlit walk Although I didn't understand You began to talk, about those days long ago. About a man and a women lost in the flow of love. You recounted every moment, Even what life's trial brought And with tears in your eyes you fought, You said once more to me, "If I had started over, I wouldn't change a thing, And no matter what this life may bring, Only because I love you."
