Hold On

Hold On

A Poem by Athena Angel

Hold onto the ones who know you
Hold onto the ones who hold your hand through storms
though the tornadoes that go on inside your head
Hold onto the ones who don't leave, but stay instead
Don't be afraid to hold on after being hurt
Don't be afraid to get up after being knocked down
And most of all, keep the ones who are there afterwards around

Hold onto the ones who you trust
Hold onto the ones who have only shown you love
Who don't make you want to run
Who never let you go because they know
you were meant to be in their life
And you know it'll never change over time
Don't be afraid to say you need someone
because not everyone will take advantage of that

Hold onto the ones watch you fall apart
and then help put you together again
Not the ones who stand on your pieces
and smile cause they think they won
Hold onto the ones who make you smile in your brokenness
who take care of you when you don't think it'll ever be the same
It won't be, but that's the best part of it all
Don't be afraid to fall, or to call
Because the right ones always pick up

Don't be afraid to tell them how you feel
Don't be afraid to say you've had enough
Don't be afraid to leave the ones who have left you
You know it's something you had to do
And here you are now better than you ever were
And the ones who love you are who got you here
