People PleaserA Poem by Angela PayneI am a people pleaser, A compilation of what others think I should be. I strive for perfection, But always find a new definition of the word. As originality is striped from me, As is my personality.
I am a people pleaser, Always an agreer, never a leader. I search for self correction, But only find the answers that others have created. As assimilation consumes who I am, As does it displace my creativity.
I am a people pleaser, A nothing, a void. I seek the fragments I have lost in becoming someone else, But can’t fit the pieces in their original spots. As I contemplate what it really means to be myself, As do others stop trying to change me. © 2013 Angela PayneReviews
