Heading OutA Poem by Angela L GarrattA poem about leaving your home to conduct your daily routine.Heading Out She puts on her coat, and checks her flat, It’s cold outside, she takes her hat, She wants to stay in without a doubt, But she’s off to work, she’s heading out. She likes her job, it keeps her busy, But more often than not it makes her dizzy, Outside her work, sits a crazy old man, She doesn’t have a lot, but gives him all she can. Back at home, she’ll eat her tea, Glad from work, she is free. Hoping her friends are about, Yet again, she’s heading out. In her local pub, she has a drink, No one’s about, she’s got time to think, But then her friends come in and shout, “C’mon gal, we’re heading out!” A party she ends up in, With some friend whose drinking gin, Really drunk, she’s had enough, She wants to go home she’s feeling rough. Standing up, she finds the door, In a rush, she almost falls, She accidently gives a clout To a man that’s heading out. She goes bright red and says she’s sorry, He replies, “What’s the hurry?” They both smiled and laugh together, They go outside a frown at the weather. They had a good day, they can’t moan, So they each headed home. © 2014 Angela L GarrattAuthor's Note
