DefinedA Poem by angI look in a mirror I love what I see A confident, young woman Uncontrolled and runs free I'm not what you think I am Your assumptions are false Your perception incorrect Not one of your defaults You don't know me You have no clue Have several ideas None of which are true You make me question myself Based on your thought Every syllable you speak Pains me like a shot Your mouth runs continuously to speak your mind Each word a dagger Chiseling away until I'm defined I'm no longer what I was But I haven't changed The words you've spoken Have people's thoughts rearranged I find myself slipping I can't tell if you lied 'Cause when I look in the mirror I see the old me has died © 2015 ang |
