Two deaths

Two deaths

A Poem by ang
"

more late night thoughts

"

It's inescapable

Present every day

Never leaves our sides

Lurking deep in the shadows

Choosing silently when to appear

Creeping ever so slowly

Strikes with surprise

Slips quietly away

With no trace

They say death comes twice

When your soul leaves your body

And when someone says your name for the last time

But is the first really death?

Or finally being recognized for the impact of your life

Appreciation for petty things soon forgotten

A tiny celebration of your unique traits

Until death really comes

In the most subtle manner

The last breathe of your name leaving someone's lips

Your small inerasable footprint

Completely forgotten by every living thing

Still lurking in the shadows unnoticed

Until it slips quietly away

With no trace

And your entire existence

Diminished in a relative second

And it becomes as if

You were

Never

         Even

                 Born

Nice emphasis on the last three words. I enjoyed this piece, but I'd suggest using a synonym for "inerasable" like indelible or something of the sort. Otherwise, good work (:
