My Own Destruction

My Own Destruction

A Poem by Angela Hunter

There he is

He stands
Expectant
A smirk plastered on
Alluring lips

Irresistible

Eyes trace
Head to toe
Assessing
Predator and prey

I know it's wrong

Sinfully stuck
In the deliciousness
Of deception
Self-inflicted

Just can't help myself

Like metal to magnet
Helpless
In this feeling
In today

My greed

Only present
In the present

Is my own

Indisputable
Though induced

Destruction
