The Worth Of My Words

Are my words worth anything 

if no one ever reads them

Jeremiads of dejection and desolation

delineations of desires and dreams

Does he take any interest 

in the lyrics I've left for him

Do the thoughts I impart 

have any impact on his heart

or does he believe me to be 

no different than the rest

fanatical, fickle, and obsessed

Perhaps it's time for me 

to relinquish my pen

consign all I've written 

to the flames to be forgotten 

as I've always been
