Samaritan

Samaritan

A Poem by AJ Douglas

Erasers only smudge
soap merely smears
my mistakes and missteps
the many instances in which
reaching a fork in the road
finding myself bereft of a map
I went the wrong way
and was beaten bloody
abandoned to die in the ditch
the moon above
appearing as the
eye of god
covered by a cataract
gazing down in apathy
no Samaritan to save me
while you remained
safe and secure
within the walls of your
palace of platitudes
