A Prejudice in GrievingA Poem by Angel BluestockingI wrote this when my friend/sister died. Our teacher called us suck-ups. I was so pissed at him that I wrote this. *at least I wasn't cussing*
How would one grieve?
Is to grieve simply crying? Is it simply to be sad; And feel deeply depressed Because of loss? Would it be offending to laugh? As we reminisce of good times And laugh for the past puns and jokes. Would it be truly offending? How would one say That to laugh is bad? How would one say That crying is the only way? If you saw one laugh When they are thought to grieve; Would you be so quick to be prejudge simply of what you see? Who is to say That they are laughing for the wrong reasons? Why is it that when people laugh in times of loss, That they are quick to be pegged as hypocrites and liars? All this questions, yet with one single answer. And it all goes back to the question; 'How would one grieve?' We laugh because of the memories We have of the people we loved, now lost. We laugh because we do not want to remember them In sad and gray colors, But gay and bright Like the memories we have.
