A lonely traveler

A lonely traveler

A Poem by Angana Choudhury

An oath we took
to walk together till we croak
through the dusty and shadowy byway
leaving behind all the fears,
adventure the whirlwind
and hurricanes of life.
We were determined,
we walked a mile or two
till you find it dreary,
arid as the dust on the road.
You decided to walk with a new ally,
I was left alone
in the darkness
but you didn't turn around.
I wasn't envious.
I just wonder where i went wrong,
I was loyal throughout the peregrination.
Now i'm a lonely traveler
who wander about forsaken places,
leaving behind all the fears,
adventure the whirlwind
and hurricanes of life
but with a void you engendered.
