The debt i owe to a lady

The debt i owe to a lady

A Poem by Angana Choudhury
"

This poem is dedicated to my mother. She is an amazing woman and extra ordinary. What debt i owe to her can't be paid off. Anyway happy mother's day.

"
Have you ever wondered how hard
It would be to find a missing treasure
At the bottom of the sea?
She resembles the rarest jewel
Lost deep inside without which
the giant sea is incomplete.
I'm the poor fish swimming,
Playing around the precious gem,
Not knowing the value she owes.

Have you ever wondered how
The tree burn herself in the bright sunshine
To give us the shade?
She is the sacrificing nature's thing
And i'm the foolish human
Who never appreciate her sacrifice,
Instead i let her suffer everyday.

Yes! She is a mother!
The mother of a disgraceful daughter,
Who doesn't know how to behave.
She is the serene soul,
Full of forgiveness, love and content.
She is someone who has trust on me
More than i have on myself.

I ponder how she leads
The life of a sacrificing mother,
A perfect wife and also a strong woman.
Maybe i shall never be able to be like her.
She is like an umbrella,
About which we remember only on rainy days.
But still she doesn't mind to stand by
And protects us from the heavy rain.
I know, i can't pay off the debt i'm overwhelmed with.
But i shall try, try to be a decent daughter,
A companion at her lonely days.
