dreamland romance

dreamland romance

A Poem by andy groe

it lies alone,

settled down beneath

the soft hum of the rolling tower lines,

safe from the reaching city lights.

the quiet of the past sits,

sparkled with broken glass

and empty tin cans,

waiting for a new beginning.

but time stands still

and only lets its children dream.

there is no cruelty,

just the steady moment of what could be

and where it may travel.

could it be away,

could it take its own

far beyond the dust?

they shall never know.

instead,

they will continue on,

each day turning from the last

until one day they wake

to the final ray of sun.

it is only love,

shared in a whisper

that breaks the open night,

in which they can steal away

from unspoken fear.

and still,

it is temporary,

a glint amidst the dry wind,

and like their dreams

they flutter and die,

buried forever in hope's despair.
