coffee and a cookie sheet

to distant friends

and closer ones,

to silly arguments

and stories told.

for love and laughs,

for food and fun,

and when the room is still

with happy sighs.

to a baby's smile

and thinking jokes,

to warming fires

and too much milk.

for beards and beers,

for talk and tables,

and when goodbye hugs

go 'round the room.

 

i should have made more cookies.
