Addie's PoemA Poem by Andy Addie’s Poem It’s winter time and all is well, for me She
struggles to breathe, to remember who she is Me? Oh I’m fine, just
worried She struggles to remain alert and
remember those who love her. I’ll be fine, I think She stirs up memories, I struggle
with mine I’ll be ok, maybe. One small thread of dignity in all
her weakness shines through What do I do or say? She sits and stares, does she care
I’m here? How do I act when she is
somewhere else? I must remember that I love her and
I care. A tear rolls down her
face Mine too, my heart aches, hers does
too What is she thinking, I
don’t know I’m confused, so is she I feel a loss for words,
she can’t voice hers It’s hard this life to watch it
leave I study my own life and
mortality I want to be loved, so does she I cannot ignore her
needs, I need her too Oh, I know you have to leave I don’t want you too Thank you for your gift, your life,
the memories Rest now dear lady;
enjoy the peace God has given.
I shall truly miss you sweet lady, . . . © 2011 Andy |
