Strong Man

Strong Man

A Poem by Andy
"

My oldest son was born at 29 weeks and spent his first year fighting for his life. He is now 26! Yay!

Strong Man

By: Andrew Oldham

So small you came, and fragile too

Coming along too early you know

A little over two pounds were you

You came with a scream and bellow

Each day was a struggle

A long fight ensued

Like a man so graceful

But perfect and nude

Here I am you said

All yours to care for

In such a tiny bed

Cried for help and more

To beat death at it’s game

We fought like hell

And each day was our gain

Each day more well

God was in your room that day

Smiling down on you

We knew He would make the way

‘Cause death was not due

He pulled you close to Him

Kissed your tiny little cheek

And whispered a short hymn

For He knew your life was weak

Not only for me, but also for you

His abundant grace so abounds

Love and kindness He provides too

In Him this miracle astounds

Life will never be the same, my son

Now that you have arrived

A strong man that has just begun

Thank God you have survived

So be true to our God

Yourself, and be grateful

In life paths as you trod

The One God be faithful
