Happy and Alone

Happy and Alone

A Poem by Nosce Te Ipsum

Look at all the lonely people.

In the crowds,

walking and talking with others.

They put on a show,

don’t pretend you cannot tell.

Oh, what good actors and actresses they are!

Their lives so meaningless

because they have no one.

Treacherous and full of hopelessness.

What good can come of this?

May I inform you that

the outcome may possibly be brutal?

That they will live their life with utter discontempt?

No lesson will be learned.

No growth produced.

Possibly.

On the other hand,

strength and knowledge of one’s self

may come forth in secret pleasure.

The beauty of oneself

knowing the divine intimacy of loving themself.

Happiness.

Strength and confidence.

Others wonder from where this aura comes,

but it is your own amusing secret.

The world is overflowing

with this stereotype of people

but each person seems to keep their own thoughts

in their own disintegrating head.

What is the purpose of thought

if it is not spoken forth?

Wisdom is the answer to that question,

having much to say

but the humbleness to not do so.

Beautiful, and carefully and passionately worded. You have a great vision, that is clearly and poetically (as it was meant to be) described. The idea you brought to the table is not a common one. Codependency is so common, and it is sung about and written about and discussed, everyone wants to be in love. We tend to forget the beauty of independence, this feels like a gentle reminder to love oneself. Thank you for your words.

Honestly, I simply write for myself. I'm not big on the technicalities. I do it to keep myself sane because generally there is no other way to release my emotions. I will be thrilled and overjoyed if .. more..
