Words on a Page

Words on a Page

A Poem by Nosce Te Ipsum

Books can set you free.

Each page turning breathlessly.

The words spill out

like an overflowing mug of coffee.

Delicious and awakening.

Penetrating your soul,

leaving you different than you came,

than before you opened the cover.

Pushing, pulling, dragging you

into a world where you feel

someone else’s pain, sadness,

intimacy, joy.

A secret between you and them,

a treasure to keep,

that emotion of love grown

between the pages and yourself.

They open your soul,

allowing hindrances in your heart

to escape, setting you free,

like a bird in the clear blue sky

on a crisp autumn day

over a crumbling field.

That’s love.

I like this a lot actually. I dont even know how to describe it but I really enjoyed it and loved how at the end it just says "that's love" so abruptly. I dont know, I really liked that part for some reason haha.

Honestly, I simply write for myself. I'm not big on the technicalities. I do it to keep myself sane because generally there is no other way to release my emotions. I will be thrilled and overjoyed if .. more..
