A Soldier's Prayer

A Soldier's Prayer

A Poem by SirEdwinSantosIII

A Soldier's Prayer

The mourning light breaks softly on the parapets of whim

And functions as the foresight of the bemired and the dim.

Where a biting truth but fails us, we seek refuge from the cold

In half hearted wisdom offered up,

Cast from the sacrificial mould.

And who's brought forth to sacrifice from the masses to the few?

Who's little spoken birthright is to be divided for the new?
