The Miracle (of Life)

The Miracle (of Life)

A Poem by Andrew N. Farrens
"

I wrote this for the new-born son of my friend/brother.......dedicated to Camilo Tizoc Chavez

"

Sitting on top of the trees,

There is no place I’d rather be

Than in the hills of Oakland and Berkeley

Excuse me if my brain seems a tad bit muddled, somewhat slow

but it was only a few days ago

that I witnessed a real God-like miracle

And

though I sincerely doubt that I am any more spiritual,
I’m very sure what I saw

was more than exceptionally special.

Human life is a gift from God

And

No-one can take that away,

Not even the Devil……

This poem is dedicated to

Camilo Tizoc Chavez,

the newborn son of my best friend/brother

And

this baby-boy is indeed very lucky

for not only does he have a wonderful father,

young Chavez also has a courageous and wickedly smart mother

so it’s obvious that he made an extremely good choice,

destined for absolutely no-other.

Mister Mateus and Latrina Chavez,

I thank-you for letting me be a part of something

that I seriously doubt I will ever experience myself

And,

Sweet Ladies and Noble Gentlemen,

I think that is perfectly fine.

Such is my Karmic Path on this sometimes cruel Level

of my scofflaw and misspent life-time

but truly, these last few days in Oakland,

I have felt only happy joy

And

though I know I will never be able to afford

to buy the Camilo even a dollar-store toy,

 I swear on everything Holy,

if necessary, my worthless life for this sweet baby-boy....

As a bay area man, there is a lot of time between Oakland and Stockton. Maybe this was not to be seen by locals, what?

Its a miracle a father never truly overcomes. As a father of a girl now grown up ... I share in that experience you describe. Happy New Year Andrew.

I have three Grandchildren. Your words express the truth. The newborn child make us come alive in new places in heart and mind. Thank you for sharing your thoughts for a good day for your brother. Good to be a uncle also. Thank you for sharing the beautiful poem and thoughts.
