The Inside

The Inside

A Poem by Matt DeFranco

Hail, to destiny and all that it
accounts!
For, I will not wind
like a toy
or hang
as a puppet
But through desire,
through pain
might purpose become it

I do not know with my
eyes
but I see,
love and things way beyond what seems.

I feel the soil,
with my hand
but does that mean I've felt
the unearthed parts of understanding's land

It's when I just sit
for awhile
Some call it content
I say it's knowing the power of powerlessness
and letting the soul relent

And oh, unlisted curiosities
the ones that man
visits
to his monstrosities
And what about
apostasies
from given plan
Do I know that truth's roots
come not from
merely man

Yeah, so today I'll
rise
Whether fortune greets me
or instead it says
goodbye

I say "that's fine"
cause whatever destiny takes
I'll always have...

...the inside.

Yeah ~~ somehow your right, "whatever destiny takes, we`ll always have .... the inside." Good on. This poem reminds me about a greatest author around the world named "Paulo Coelho" ... His best selling novel called "The Alchemist" is the best novel ever where he`d expressed the few things even allot of things about destiny even his that novel`s all based on destiny. So, yeah, this beautiful poem of yous reminds me about that novel. I enjoyed reading this piece!

Beautiful imagery and concept Matt. I love how you incorporate wisdom and truth to life's content moments and mysterious ways. Your closing lines were amazing....strong ending. "The inside", where it all begins.

I really enjoyed this poem. Strong beginning "I will not wind like a toy or *hang like a puppet" what a great image to express this.

"I feel the soil with my hands" I love this image and I saw this and you are feeling the land, but does it mean you understand the mystery of all that is life. I may be reading this wrong, but that's what I thought. I thought this stanza was so cool.

Well done.
