This Light

This Light

A Poem by Matt DeFranco

Lo, as I sift the dust that compliments
my palpable inhibitions
Abject yet content,
disoriented yet
blithe
For where is one man great
not settled in the abyss
One who's not reached beyond his
own
and cried for the magnitude of
safety
Beyond all strength and pain,
all recompense and avarice
it shone...

Who with all knows nothing
and who with nothing
will have all
Seeing that all is nothing
beside completely
being in it...

What values fade
beyond
condition
What ventures seem to have
lost,
But in me still illumes...

...this light.

Really appreciate the music in your verses - I like the way you convolute in on your meaning to clarify your intent - YES!

You have shined a wonderful light within and without. Keep illuminating us with more...:).............

This is remarkable dear Poet. There is humbleness as well as strength. The ability to say that we know nothing bares much truth in the grand scheme of things. For in this Life we are the children, lessons lurking within each moment whether in happiness or despair. Life is a constant series of learning and those of us who chose to learn will rise to the next level, those of us whom believe we know everything and have everything are those who may plunge into an awakening that may destroy the world around us. That in itself another lesson.
Well done my friend.
Much love to you and may your light shine on and continue to grow brighter.

Thank you very much!
I could see myself throwing my hands up in the air in despair, yet that damn light always comes on lol You have a way with words poet, expression is best of it. Materialism never really defined anyone anyway

Not only is there the Light within here - but it shines forth for all to wonder upon, wander with and simply enjoy immensely. Thank you.

There are some people who value one thing over the others. Everyone has his own priorities. But great is the man who prioritizes his name and dignity...that is always keeping his light in himself.

This is is a brilliant piece for me. I like the structure and how you present the concept. Kudos!
