The Disillusion of Dichotomy

The Disillusion of Dichotomy

A Poem by Matt DeFranco

There is a dichotomy
to life
One that opposites
incite

And we always shame one
or a another,
"if he's not against me than he
is my brother"
But what of the others,
are they not breathing
too
Is it enough to love much
but hate a
few

And what about the
burden
nestled in our
minds
The one that draws us to
destroy
despite every bit of life
we have come to
define
Oh, me and I
are we one,
and will we forever
fight
Will the visceral of me
usurp my spirit's
plight

How can cold exist with
heat
How can bitter be tasted
with sweet
Can't we see that the product of
such is what
frees

For the one and the other
is what makes us
bleed..

....to know we're alive,
to know that opposition is but a seed.

Hate should never enter anyone's vocabulary as it is the destroyer of all things. There is nothing EVER that comes of Hate except more Hate.
To justify love for a Brother by where he stands "with you" is to miss the point of Love and Life.
I love message you have put forth. Love is what we were created from, created for and truly our only divine purpose. To Love all those, even those whom have Hated, those whom have hurt us, and especially those who have been consumed with Hatred, that is the only "right". Building bridges to those who have been lost to Love is My purpose, a path I have chosen because it is who I am. And my dear Matt, we all can chose this. You have brought about a thought provoking piece to be proud of, Brother.

Yes, all of existence depends on an opposite force to allow it to continue - nice philosophical thoughts which includes both physical and emotional aspects of life.
