JPS Hospital Visit

JPS Hospital Visit

A Poem by Matt DeFranco

So this is sickness...

I see your fragile knees
probably from the
Christmas's
spent only
with
figurines.

He's got kind of
a different
grin.
Does he know that where
he lacks
leaves only place
for more
sin?

Not quite becoming,
scarcely in
glamour's
light.
A blazer with
glasses
but she doesn't
hide how
kind.

"Do you have a
dime?"
Sure, as
I reach in
my pocket
and see
one's eye's
truly defined.

It's hard to
find,
It's hard
to find comfort
with all these
infirmities..
..all these numbers.

It's hard to find,
it's hard to find
relief
with all these
diseased..
..with all the
afflicted
with all of me.

Sometimes we become overwhelmed with the pain and sorrow of those who are less fortunate, more sick than we and attempt to become "one" with them, but the afflicted in us does not always allow us to reach out as much as we should, or could. The numbers of you, and you, and you outnumber "me".
Interesting thoughts to ponder!!

A great writer is not always so eloquent with his words, not always the best orator, not even the most profound within literacy; but one who is led by his pen through the inspiration of the heart. One.. more..
