More Than I

More Than I

A Poem by Matt DeFranco

Oh, ineffable ambition
If only these words
brought you to fruition

I pass you by throughout
the day
I see the the magnificence
attempted
displayed

As I whisper with old truths
and hidden values reveal
themselves
When time stops
and my fears
wield but
wilt

Oh, ambition
if I could only attain,
if I could see a part of your
frame
Maybe these tasks,
these motives
would prove
their quaint

Yet unspoken
but already
shattered
words
I've sought you
through much
and mostly
her

But your purposes
stand more
grave than
mine

Oh, how I yearn to
understand
through wisdom and
time

Oh, grateful to know...
..that life is more than just I.
