The Last Night

The Last Night

A Poem by Matt DeFranco
"

I wrote this in May of 2011 departing circumstances that were ineffably painful.

"
The last night of this abyss
the restless hour and hope for the day
the night devours
Will I ever decide
the burdensome task?
Will I ever take off this lonesome
mask?
These words of mine stretch far
as the sun
but as far as the ink stands
to more than some
My kettle heart
it must explode
my severed parts must
finally grow
These hours shave the layers of life
but dull this sword
I will always
fight
Time's not time
when it makes you bleed
take it from the
scarred
take it from me
