the PARADOX of character

the PARADOX of character

A Poem by Matt DeFranco

Will pride take over principle?
And what doth thou trade
for naught?
A house,
a high,
something they got
Uh, something you bought..

And turn away from freedom
strive for something
less
than you believe in

It's the source,
take it at the root
don't blind your eyes to feel if you can
choose
It's better you...

Rid yourself of vexation
internal lies are the
true
temptations

Is it enough to merely tarry on?
" I'm doing my best with this
luggage,
 leave this and the rest
I'll keep as
carri-on  (carrion)"

Conviction comes from
passion
and gratitude lingers
from the life
pain's fashioned

I was just a simple boy
promised the
world
as it were a
toy

How many times we lie?
It may be just once
but that once
might
we die

What makes you
feel the best?
And is the principle behind that
what fuels the
rest?

There's not much more confusion
just a choice you've already made,
the good part of your
name...

just remember that next
time
you ever choose to choose
blame.

About
A great writer is not always so eloquent with his words, not always the best orator, not even the most profound within literacy; but one who is led by his pen through the inspiration of the heart. One.. more..
