Walking Home

Walking Home

A Poem by Matt DeFranco
"

"This poem is for anyone who understands the agony of bondage and the freedom of recovery...from anything."

"
There's something that drew me to the chaos
the incessant voices that followed
impulse.

The choosing vacillation
of where to turn

A comfort so deep and consuming
yet coupled with resounding
fate.
And pound and pound, my heart to
elate.

I wondered if I was ever
lost
That impending doom
 be favored.

That despite all forebodings the likes of me
were faint
That in pursuit of my haven
I find only to be misplaced.

And tears and fear so astounding
burst through understanding.
Yet answers came but left me
foundering.

Oh, what willingness charges
the  soul,
the skin,
the me with every fold.

But a subtle spryness sparks.
And as the gloom takes territory
the shadows
beckon.

For a second I know
that I'm not alone.

As I turn around
I finally feel...

I'm walking home.

A great writer is not always so eloquent with his words, not always the best orator, not even the most profound within literacy; but one who is led by his pen through the inspiration of the heart. One.. more..
