Standing Falls

Standing Falls

A Poem by Matt DeFranco

The stilts stand straight up when we

fall.

Straight as the the lines we

meant to draw.

These tumbling grounds..

..are they fair?

Or do they roll

like the hills

We walk,

we bare.

Are our notions something

extraordinaire,

fulfilling our hopes

or feeling scarce?

And does it tear..

..away when we fall

or stitch the prayers we pray

when we call?

Oh! will we bow

will we stand,

will we curse the every

hand?

Reaching and waiting

that one left

desire?

Is it all, or that one thing we

yearn?

That makes us burn with

FIRE?

Oh dire..oh dire.

I will not give up on that one

thing.

And neither relent on the everything.

Lets see what this thing they call

faith brings.

And yes my friends

in the threads of what tragedy

seams.

You may sing...

...you may sing.

A great writer is not always so eloquent with his words, not always the best orator, not even the most profound within literacy; but one who is led by his pen through the inspiration of the heart. One.. more..
