Deck of Hearts

Deck of Hearts

A Poem by Matt DeFranco

“Deck of Hearts”

What obtrusion denies love..?

Inept am I

to deny the heart.

My voice seems to echo,

with eternal reflection

and ongoing,rests my lot

clairvoyant inflection.

Hollow has been filled,

a patience unconditional.

I’d rather not fade

with turns not so pivotal.

I’ve spoken affliction,

beyond the word.

I telescope everything

that cannot be heard.

Yes, left vacant

explaining I avert.

To slip on a dime,

what ground

with a million won’t hurt?

Does detachment approach,

and carry heavy fate with..?

Filled with fool’s gold

in my life’s basement.

So abate and abash,

my tainted, fictional heart.

What isn’t “real”

is always how it starts.

Quote me now then

and when you find this.

Know love is bred,

from the parts of life we

usually

miss...

A great writer is not always so eloquent with his words, not always the best orator, not even the most profound within literacy; but one who is led by his pen through the inspiration of the heart. One.. more..
