From Old to New

From Old to New

A Poem by The Anathematic Error

The sun has set on the old

He was withered by moonlight

The night shows emptiness

But the sunrise dawns the new

The old was not as you’ve been told

He wore a mask to hide him from your sight

Who he was, he shall not confess

For telling a tale, the dead shall not do

The new does not take his place

He lets go of all the old knew

He sets on a journey for a new home

A place where he can stand out with a new name

Although new, he wears an old face

He wears the face, but with an identity anew

The old story finished, a new soul being sewn

Why this takes place, the old is to blame

The old knew it was his time to die

Nothing productive, he could never make

Time for the new, he would not ever deny

Time for the old to sleep, and the new to wake
