This house of cards

This house of cards

A Poem by anartao

A single thudding heartbeat in a sea of disconnection,
a weeping heart amongst these effigies of stone
In the midst of material dreams a vision’s born of insurrection,
whilst the sands continue falling on our chances to atone

Running from the questions that might shatter this illusion,
this house of cards we’ve built, and treated as if steel
Beginnings are for dreams, but they won’t alter the conclusion
of this man made sentence that we’ll have no chance to appeal

We need a different vision from our current gilded goals,
our wants destroying needs on a truly global scale
These aims of fleeting happiness will not help to console
tomorrows children whose future's up for sale

I give up. I have not read one of yours yet I do not like. I am stuck by how seamlessly your rhythm and rhythms fall together.
