My god is not your God

My god is not your God

A Poem by anartao

My god is not your God
whose revelations split the masses
A message made exclusively
for those with golden glasses
To deem those few ears worthy
above all else for sacred breath
is to ignore the sheer dimension
of this unions breadth and depth

My god is not your God
for yours was built with human hands
A narrow vision cast upon
the falling of the sands
A songbird kept inside a cage
of human shaped desires
Locked inside the flames that free
upon the funeral pyres

My god is not your God
for yours has grown a taste for blood
An eyeless, toothless creature
growing fat with every flood
A love of strict conditions,
archaic rule book of the heart,
with the flag of vengeance flying
high above your Lords rampart

My god is not your God
converting heathens with the sword
A flock recruited by the steel
becomes another horde
Tightening gloves of doctrine,
toe to toe inside the ring
And when Gods bicker like children
just what message does it bring ?

This is wonderful. I love the repetition at the beginning of each stanza, and the rhyme scheme, not to mention the subject matter! The last two lines are spot on, and the second to last stanza...wow! Powerful from beginning to end--you really are a talented writer. Thank you so much for sharing. :)
