Manifesto

Manifesto

A Poem by anartao

I deny your apathetic world, your arm chair view of things

The cathedral of the self you build, your stained synthetic wings

Following the cause that all your favourite stars campaign

Placing bows within your wool, and following the grain

Choosing to be weak and follow, forgetting your divine

Finding truth in mass appeal, wholly behind the line

Living cookie cutter lives, that someone else has built

Justifying selfishness to alleviate your guilt

Yelling from your sofa’s, yet refusing to make a stand

Sympathetic from a distance for suffering in other lands

Where convenience is the highest ideal to which you strive

Becoming w****s to earn the gold to make us feel alive

Popping pills for happiness, medicated all the day

Children would rather a TV screen, than the outdoors when they play

Staring slack jawed, eyes wide shut, total indoctrination

Nothings known unless its shown on a well known TV station

The halls of power home to the corrupted and depraved

All this racism and hatred travels roads that they have paved

Who cares if they have fucked around and cheated on their wife ?

Im more concerned with unjust wars and the loss of human life

Or how the ones in power spread their legs for corporate gold

Or how we’re all commodities, waiting to be bought or sold

Give me love and nothing else, till away my body wastes

Flavour my life with pain and hurt, and other taboo tastes

Let me lay my life down for a soul i’ve never met

Let me throw a f*****g brick right through that TV set

I want life to pierce my soul, and leave me many scars

I want my stories to be told, as numerous as stars

Let me learn from rocks and trees a patience old as time

And every time i see a wall, give me the strength to climb

Let me be like water, flowing to the lowest spot

Let my life be simple, let me untangle that knot

Allow me to see through others eyes, the journey that they take

Let me build my own life, not some manufactured fake

Knock down the mountains of worry, and fill in despairs deep hole

Let us re-build with love and light, all that from us they have stole
