The lost policy of honesty

The lost policy of honesty

A Poem by anartao

Honesty’s a policy
that most I know would like to see
passed down and carried on by their offspring

An open heart is a good start
to see division soon depart
and the possibilities that it would bring

Yet each hour those in power
our rights and liberties devour
through the opposite of those ideals they preach

Sending drones, tapping phones,
creating riches built on bones,
it seems deception and lies are all they teach

Travel rorts, elections bought,
no justice found in corporate courts,
it seems forked tongues are now the order of the day

Seas of gold see’s ethics sold
by those within the ruling fold,
corruptions there and its quite openly on display

The creation of elite stations
responsible for any nation
creates kleptocracies and oppressive brutal force

A policy of mutiny
against a real democracy
see’s us forced upon a crass subverted course

How much more can we endure
of these elected corporate w****s
before they tip us past the point of no return?

The global arms race, nuclear powers face,
and the plans to militarise outer space
will light the wick with which our planet burns

But the affliction of our addiction
to a consumer crucifixion
seems to have blinded us and promoted apathy

We lose traction through distraction,
 and there’s no one-way transactions,
there will be no arm chair view of breaking free
