Is it okay to Love again?

The bittersweet experiences whiz by,
as I go down memory lane. 
I feel the familiar air,
I miss the things I treasured.
Is it okay to feel for you again?

Some force pulls me back to you,
despite all the pain.
So it must have been true,
Was I the wrong one all the while?
Can I still try to start again?

I wanted to chide,
but what would we gain?
Good sense by my side,
I swallowed my ego.
May I try to make things work again?

I did look here and there,
but in vain.
For my heart couldn't bare,
the thought of being with someone else.
Is it okay to love again?

I think it is not a question of if, but when. By nature, we are attracted to love, whether we are seeking it, or not. Rationally, as you expressed so well, our hearts go into self-preservation mode......which helps us to survive, but what is live, if we only survive? (mmm...now that thought has a poem wrapped around it)

Our hearts want to thrive, and only love does that. :)
