Put Your Coat On and Don't Ask Why

Put Your Coat On and Don't Ask Why

A Poem by anaisbelieve

if in my haste i forgot to erase my anger
i apologize and extend my hand which will
extend residue of that anger to you so
understand i keep both hands pocketed.

i could not be happier anywhere else
running and watching, singing i was
cloudbusting
who heard?

i am swallowing these words on strips of paper,
remembering sheep i drew in multi coloured ink
knowing one day you would ask me to expain my
meaning. i meant joy in the purple, that is all
i intended, stop asking questions.

I remember where I was that day gazing at the
sky and laughing into the wind. I caught a
falling leaf and pressed it. I wanted to
remember everything I felt, but all I remember
is it used to be yellow.

these fading pages.
