Ode to D'Angelo

Ode to D'Angelo

A Poem by Ana R
"

A poem to my greatest creation.

"

He may have helped create you but I made you

I look at you and cry to the God I know in awe of what you make me feel

I still have the bruises and scars and soreness of my sacrifice

And to think of the pain, the intensity of it, the endurance it took

To overcome that makes looking at you so much more of a marvel

To look at myself in the mirror, and see your features, is the most incredible blessing

Your first cry

Your first touch

Your first meal

Your first burp

Your first nap

Your first smile

Your first laugh

Your first embrace

Were my first poems and songs ingrained ever so deeply

More powerful than maya

More soulful than badu

You put a groove in my step

A bounce in my talk and smile

I thank you love

You saved me

And for that I am forever indebted to you

I could go on and on about this piece, it very much speaks to the heart and soul; specifically your heart and soul. The gifts we receive from the pain we have to endure in life are always the most precious. From your bruises, your humiliation, your self doubts, your worry, your extreme mental pain................... You've been blessed with a beautiful child God gave you to save you. And yes, I agree wholeheartedly, "More powerful than maya, more soulful than badu", the sky is the limit for you and your son.
