Fruit of My Labor

Fruit of My Labor

A Poem by Ana R
"

A poem about self-worth.

"

Don’t ever underestimate the fruit of my labor

Not your baby so don’t call me it

Even if it fits your confidence

To myself I could never be a traitor

I am my only vindicator

The fruit of my labor

Not your baby so don’t call him it

Seeing our beauty in the moonlight is enough to make anyone commit

The flavor of his sweet soul and my sweet lips you could never forget

Live with regret, be poisoned

Don’t ever underestimate the fruit of my labor

Not yours so don’t call me mine

My fortress is of godly acres

Intertwining with the bitterness of your mediocracy, would inevitably dim my shine

It’s been a while since I had wine

It’s been a while since I could envision the finish line

It’s been a while since I’ve heard God

It’s been a while since I’ve felt gold

It’ll be a while ‘til I grow old

So don’t ever underestimate the fruit of my labor

Not your baby so favor my intellect

Manifest your intent

Match my silhouette
