Another for my creation. Written after the very first time I saw him move outside my belly. I also created a book for him from this poem with images I created. Gave it as a baby shower keepsake.

If I could draw something for you

something you could see this very moment…

I would draw every vein that was ever exposed in your creation

I would draw every tear that ever came from me in response to every first I witnessed

Just for you love,

I would trace the patterns of your movements within me

I would trace every smile and look of serenity of those who saw your greatness even before you took your first breath

 

I would paint the colors of my face,

The purple hues under my eyes, tired from you

The reds of the impurities that surfaced

the pinks of my cheeks, smitten of you

and for the colors I don’t have…

 

I will whisper to you every beauty that I could not record

the glow you gave me

the growth of my spirit

and the vision of giving you a life better than I could have ever made without you

 

Our bond will be forever embedded on the ceilings of our chapel

And in that you and I are limitless.
