Glory

Glory

A Poem by Anthony Nacrelli

Shots fired on a September evening.

Underneath the warm red glow of her newly furnished home,

there we stood

her name was glory

and when I looked at her that’s all I saw

magnificence; great beauty

As we gazed into each other’s eyes

catching the reflection

of the person who had caused us

both

such tremendous pain life stood still.

Years passed in that very moment

Our eyes glazed

either from intoxicants

or pain.

I left a piece of myself on that porch

and forever since my eyes have looked the same
