No Going Back

No Going Back

A Poem by Amanda Lynn

As life moves on
Things start making
More sense than it did
Way back when

We see how our choices
Our decisions and actions
Have shaped and molded
Our present realities

If we could tell our past selves
Just one thing
That would change the outcome
Make our present more bearable

What would we say
In what moment would we choose
Would our former selves
Even listen and make changes

Or is this inner conversation
Simply pointless to have
Our focus better spent
making the most of our right now

For there is no going back.
