Butterflies

Butterflies

A Story by Amy

As he entered the room time seemed to stop. She could feel her heart beating faster as she took in the image of him standing in the doorway. Butterflies filled her stomach while she watched him from the far side of the room. And the sounds of the party faded becoming nothing more than a muffled rhythm in the background.

Slowly he turned his head. Their eyes met, and instantly goose bumps formed on her skin. His eyes were a dark brown that matched the color of his slightly scruffy hair. He was a young man but years of experiences were etched all across his very handsome face.

Her gaze remained locked on him as he made his way slowly across the room in her direction. Their eyes never losing contact with one another. His nicely shaped lips formed a flirtatious smile and the sight of this made her a bit weak in the knees.

Taking a deep breath she smiled back at him; trying her hardest to keep her cool. At the moment all she could hear was the loud and nervous thumping of her very own heart. With her hands slightly shaking she playfully brushed her hair behind her ear and took a sip from the cup in her other hand. As he stood there in front of her she held her breath. Her heart had suddenly gone silent and the butterflies in her stomach were now frozen in place.

She had no idea he was going to be at this party, but suddenly she was very glad she had decided to attend.
