Survival..

Survival..

A Poem by Amy

Thunder struck

There was lightning

Suddenly the lights went out

The sky stopped brightening

Out of the crack of the hole was the mouse

In search of a bit of cheese

From the stuffed kitchen to eat

Sweeping past the couch,

He turned left and right

To be sure not to say ouch

For fear of being hit with a broom

After being chased out of the room?

Being sure of no one in sight

He dashed to the kitchen with all his might

There, on the counter, he found a piece

In his tiny paws, he grabbed a bit they could eat

Looking to ensure no one was in sight

He ran back to his hole

To feed himself and his family

Never to return

In a long, long time…

I think there is more to this poem then meets the eye. Somewhere there are "things" tucked away in your memories... things that want to be like this little mouse and come out of his hole. Perhaps to see the world or have a great adventure or perhaps to escape from one. Either way, it is a very interesting narrative. There are a lot of curious connectives and the patterns are strange but alluring. Certainly something worthy of compliment.

Thank you very much. :)
I think it's very jovial! And the imagery is great! I could "see" the entire scene unfold. If this was your intention, you did a great job!

I liked the fact that mice have to feed themselves and their family although most people dislike them . A good write ...:)
