misery and release

loneliness is like a blanket that envelopes you
taking over your world no matter what you do

as hard as you fight it it's still there
looking at you in a deadly stare

the people around you just don't see
they see the smile on your face the fake glee

they don't understand you want to die
but one day they will be saying goodbye

for now you are just here like a ghost
fooling not just some but most

the world moves on around you like nothings wrong
f**k it, maybe I should be the lead character in a country song

I already know what it would say
she tried her best but just couldn't stay

she lived her life in a pool of hurt
all she ever did was get burnt

then one day she couldn't take it any more
she slit her wrists and the blood poured

alone in the bathtub for no-one to see
and that's the way she always wanted it to be

the song ends on a note of sadness and tears
it's way too late now since she isn't here

A fitting title for this poem and subject. I think you've certainly conveyed the emotion well, and you've added some vivid imagery.

A country song? Yes, certainly. I'm a country music fan, but some days I can't listen to certain artists. It's just to dark and dreadful. So, I think those who've experienced depression, especially country music fans, will get this poem.
