PalpableA Poem by Amy Sese26 May 2017
I saw the markings across her heart.
I was tempted to run my finger along its surface... Those scars she's been trying to hide, they're memories which have yet to subside. I witnessed the markings she's been drawing over, Repeatedly, Attempting to create a new story to a different chapter. But I still yearned to analyze her preface To understand where she traveled from, And to reassure her it's okay to feel out of place. To remind her she's lightning raging across the skies after dusk, untouched. To admit to her she's the sun lighting up my hours Soon after I wake up. Today, the tomorrows, and especially tonight... I felt the scars she tried to hide. They wrapped around my finger as I sat down at her side. Electricity ran through my veins. And in that moment, i knew she felt safe. And from that moment, she ran in 1st place. She was unbreakable. She was ready to make her mark on this world. Scared, yet she persisted on with full force. ...and I couldn't help but admire her as she drew her own sword. © 2017 Amy Sese |
