The Jackpot.A Poem by Amy Sese25 January 2017
I took advantage of you,
I couldn't help it....but you'll never know. Because I fell in love with how you made me feel, and I ran with it. It was my escape from the real world. I couldn't help but to take advantage of it. You were the source of my adrenaline. Endless poetry was written in between my days. Thoughts of you kept me entertained. Invested. I woke up with new ideas for 3 months, straight, On how to show my appreciation for you. On how to stir up the best meal for that face to face encounter opportunity. Like I could never speak enough to prove you wrong. ...that you were (no) good for me. Get on my level then, Or let me love you exactly where you're at. so I can explain what you mean in this cold world. Just what your warmth means to me, As you spread your embers all across my body. You're a volcano that erupts in my heart, Overflowing...words on my paper. Beats of my heart. Rolling off my tongue. You were the thunder that lit my skies for seconds at a time. Yet I couldn't catch you. You were too wild, too unsure. Creating waves between us instead. So I'll ride and take advantage of the feels. To be a better poet. A better cook. A better person. Still, up until this day. Still, for the rest of my tomorrows. I was free falling, free floating in an unexpected timeframe. I took advantage of you, because I fell, hard. But I got up again to run with it. That's the only thing I could do with it... © 2017 Amy Sese |
