ParachuteA Poem by Amy SeseJuly 2016
I will not be your parachute.
For you to use every time you have the urge to jump out of a jet plane. To feel the adrenaline You crave, …only at the beginning. I will not be your parachute On your back Like an overcastted shadow, Tagging along to ensure your safety, Only when you need me. …not choose me. I will not be your last resort to pull the red tab, Thousands of feet from the real world. So you can enjoy the view While I expand and exhaust myself, Carrying all your weight. So you can breathe again. I will not be your parachute For you to use Until you can stand on your own two feet again. Without me. Running full force on the ground. …While I drag behind Vulnerable and bare across the dirt. As I do… every chance you want to feel alive. I will not be your parachute. © 2016 Amy Sese |
