A RenovationA Poem by Amy SeseJuly 2015. Because this tumbled out of my sleeve(-less shirt) coming home from the great land of Yellowstone.Allow me to (re-)introduce myself. I’m the heart that pumps adrenaline through your veins so you wake up in the morning with a sense of motivation. I’m the mirror you use for that boost of confidence when you lack the determination to take on this world, or as an excuse to hide from the daylight that’s been awaiting you since the day you were born. I’m the tree that gives the breath you inhale after a long day, and the shade you seek in between hours for a much needed break. Too often, I'm that brush that's been wiped out because I was simply in your way. I’m the mountain that you have a love-hate relationship with. I bring out the sweat in you before you can thoroughly reap the rewards you feel solely from the investment and struggles. I’m that quote you read, like, tattoo, and share, but fail to apply to your every day life. Or, I can be that quote you live by and strive to surround yourself with. ...to think and act deliberately with. I’m the change you fear because it won’t be as easy as changing wardrobes. But I’ll be that change you’ll remember as the day you grew out of your old clothes. I’ll be the change that the only constant you will know will be growth. I’ll be that masked fear that cultivates, so you can feel alive every damn day. I’ll be the fear for you to embrace the strength of bravery. I’ll be everything and anything you take for granted until you break down the beauty of what it is to appreciate and be appreciated. I’ll be that pick-me-up for you to pick up others, now and again. I’ll be that impulse to move boldly, once again. I’ll be that incentive to live deliberately, again. I’ll be…for you to collide with abounding opportunities. I’ll be…for you to change with full intent. I’ll be…for you to become immersed with life …as you once had. …as you once dreamt of having. © 2015 Amy Sese |
