NanaA Poem by Ashley MyersIf tears could build a stairway to heaven........ I miss you nanaMy sweet Nana
I miss you so. Where have you gone? Where did you go? To your mansion on the hilltop Where the streets are made of gold. You're in glory for eternity, Your fathers' hand you hold. You've flown to heaven with angels wings Meeting with your maker. But I'm down here asking Why. Why God did you take her? You took my world away from me, The woman that I loved. And though I know it was her time That explanation's not enough. Sunday mornings with you, Nana, are forever etched in me. The smell of your Tabu perfume Is still left lingering. The aroma of brewing coffee Reminds me of those morns When you'd sit rocking in your chair And prepare to praise the Lord. The ride to church is still familiar, Bluegrass filled the van. Papas' voice still sings along And I listen when I can. You had your spot in the same old pew, With the same routine each week. I'd listen to you sing from the hymnal book. I miss your voice, so sweet. The pew is now left empty And i no longer hear your songs, But your presence still remains. I know, I've felt you all along. I can hold your hand no longer, Or cuddle next to you. I have this hole inside my heart That belongs to you so true. I know I'll see you again some day And I'll jump into your arms. I'll forever be in your embrace And join you in the stars. But until the day I take your hand I'll do all that I can do. I'll miss you each and every day and I'll never stop loving you. © 2011 Ashley MyersAuthor's Note
